Artful Adventures - Sign, Ground & Wildlife

I joined Nathalie Kalbach's 30 day Artful Adventures: Stroll Challenge a bit late, but there's plenty of time to catch up, right?!! The challenge consists of strolling through the neighbourhood and taking photos, based on a daily prompt. Those photographs can then be used as inspiration in creating art. I decided to create a mini art journal, repurposing a set of alphabetical index cards, and here are the first few pages!

I wanted to find something unique for the "prompt" sign, and couldn't find that in my neighbourhood so instead, I used a photo I took in England, in 2009.

Dandelion

What could be more synonymous with spring than dandelions?!! Did you know that up until the 1800s people would pull grass out of their lawns to make room for dandelions and other useful “weeds” like chickweed, malva, and chamomile? I think it's fair to say not many people feel this way, today! This spread was inspired by today's #artadventures "ground" prompt ...
While on my walk around the neighbourhood today, I took numerous photos of the ground, including photos of dandelions but sadly, the dandelion photos were not that inspiring to share, so instead I shared this photo on instagram, but clearly, the dandelions were the inspiration for this spread.

Sleep & No Rain, No Flowers

I really enjoyed Ashley's Get Messy tutorial on paper weaving ... so much fun! I also experimented with warm and cold colours after watching EmK's tutorial and added a little texture to the page: rick rack for the stems and thread to outline the photos. I can't believe the Season of Contrast is coming to an end. I wonder what's next?!

We all Bloom & Wither

I don't know if it works like this for all GM seasons, but the current Season of Contrast has had me thinking about "contrast" on both a conscious and unconscious level. I picked up a gardening book this past weekend at a garage sale and immediately started clipping out some images, including this blooming allium. While I wasn't intentionally thinking about how I could use any of the clipped images for this season, the image got me thinking about the cycle of life and it immediately occurred to me, what contrast could be any bigger and obvious than the cycle of life?
